R2R Travelogue: Gratitude and Paying It Forward

This morning, with great gratitude for having the opportunity to have experienced so much over the last few days, on my "excellent adventure," I want to express part of it in a very tangible way. By "paying it forward" to those of my fellow Steemians who contributed to it.

Loved this picture! Given the contrast with the wintry conditions I have been through over the last several days and just a great illustration (to me) of being thankful and helping me to get this post off to a "flying start" ...

I can honestly smile about the thought of "profiting" from my posting here on the Steem blockchain, as I have always been very open about being first and foremost an investor in it. Without which, we would have never "met" ...

But ... Being my first time online, I have needed to learn, along the "road" on my Steem "journey," what it means to be a part of a social network. Accordingly, as part of the long-term mindset I have always had toward investing, I have learned it requires an understanding that we have to do what we can to support the sincere efforts of others. Without that, our investment in it is doomed to failure ...

As I have said before, I am perhaps slow, but I am also very persistent. So, I eventually "get it" ... Usually ... πŸ˜‰

So ... What do I have in mind this morning?

A Tangible Expression of Gratitude

Part of the amazing experience of participating "in here" is learning about all the rich diversity of talent we can see applied by others. One well-known example is the SteemBasicIncome (SBI) initiative, based on the excellent work of @josephsavage.

He has provided his fellow Steemians with an excellent "vehicle," for what I have in mind.

Getting right to it then, in the form of SBI Shares, I am reinvesting whatever "profit" I have received from my R2R posts back into the Steemisphere, by rewarding those who have contributed the most significantly to them.

Communities

Without robust, healthy communities, in which we can all work together in "common cause" with other like-minded Steemians, to add value to our Steem blockchain, I think "we're toast" to use an American expression.

So ... Here are the ones I would like to recognize and support:

  • 10 SBI Shares: @steemitworldmap - A great community / initiative based on pinning our travel experiences and posts to wherever in this big, wide world of ours they happen to have taken place. Love it and all those who work so hard "behind the scenes" to make it what it is!

Of the posts linked to their global map, they publish a daily digest of these their curators have chosen to feature or honorably mention. For more info, here is their website.

  • 10 SBI Shares: @travelfeed - There is a lot of overlap between this community and the @steemitworldmap community (others would be better equipped than me to explain the distinctions ...). They upvote and resteem travel-related posts their curators deem worthy of it.

They then have a weekly "round-up" post on the "cream of the crop" of these posts. For more info, here is their website. They also have their own Discord channel.

  • 10 SBI Shares: @c-squared - This great community of curators does an amazing job of finding quality posts and resteeming them to their +1,800 followers. They upvote and resteem a lot of posts daily! A remarkable effort to support their fellow Steemians.

They are allied (last I knew anyway), in their efforts, with the @steemcommunity witness account of @abh12345 and @paulag.

  • 10 SBI Shares: @c-cubed - The "cream of the crop" of @c-squared's upvoted and resteemed posts get upvoted, resteemed, and featured in their daily "Exponential!" posts.

All the best to these great communities going forward, in their efforts to support the work of their fellow Steemians!

  • Note: Please consider placing one of your all-important Steem Witness votes for @c-squared's community witness. If someone knows of one linked to these traveling-based communities, please let me know.

Individuals

Making a "Captain Obvious" statement, participating on a social network involves interacting with other people. What has stood out to me above all else in my "journey" on the Steem blockchain, is the remarkable opportunity we have to interact with other people all over the world!

So ... Here are the ones I would like to recognize and support:

  • 5 SBI Shares: @insight-out - Having made a commitment of my time to the @pifc community, founded by @thedarkhorse, I first "met" this Steemian through my Week 25 post. It was her post that helped "plant some seeds" that ultimately "germinated" into my "Road to Recovery" trip. She is a great content creator, primarily for the #steemstem channel.

  • 5 SBI Shares: @delishtreats - As far as I can figure out, I first met this Steemian through her comments on one of my first "travelogue" posts - Lake Quinalt Lodge. As a "seasoned veteran" of the Steem blockchain, in general, and the traveling communities, in particular, she has been very helpful to getting me introduced to the right channels. She is also an exceptional engager.

  • 5 SBI Shares: @newageinv - A "rock in the Steemian sea," I first "met" this Steemian through a resteem of one of my posts, by the great Steemian @steemchiller - the creator of SteemWorld. We have been steadily "engaged" ever since (wonder how my sense of humor translates across language and culture barriers sometimes) ... πŸ˜‰

  • 5 SBI Shares: @blessed-girl - I first "met" this Steemian on my Week 23 post for the @pifc community - my first post for them. I am very appreciative of the opportunity, as she and her family are Venezuelan. She has a remarkable testimony and I love the manner in which she and her family express themselves. Our prayers and thoughts are hopefully with the people of this oppressed country.

  • 5 SBI Shares: @rawutah - While relatively new to me and not really being sure how he / they ever found my posts, this guy / family is / are amazingly enthusiastic. Just love it, when I "hear" from them. We share some common history, in that we are both familiar with the State of Utah. I am looking forward to when he and the family go on their "adventure!"

  • 5 SBI Shares: @trincowski - First "meeting" him, as a "regular" of the @pifc community, one of his passions is artistic talent, of which I possess next to none ... So, it was a pleasant surprise to find him following along on this journey. His comments and support were great.

  • 5 SBI Shares: @janton - Don't remember when I first "met" this Steemian, but my countryman from Texas and I share many similar views. I have jokingly said I think he is really a bot, given "the Champ" routinely wins @abh12345's weekly CEL awards for engagement.

And not "by a nose" either. If he is "fully on," forget about it. Just hand him the weekly top award ... πŸ˜‰ I have seen his scores +double those of the #2 Steemian on the list. I really appreciate his decision to "tag along" on this trip. And, thereby giving me an opportunity to contribute a tiny bit to his weekly CEL score ... πŸ˜‰

  • 4 SBI Shares: @dfinney - Not sure how I came to the attention of this Steemian from the Great Northwest, but she provided some very nice early input on my trip. And she was even kind enough to refer to me in @soyrosa's post, who was seeking input on new Steemians to follow.

  • 3 SBI Shares: @veryspider - Not sure how I came to the attention of this Steemian either, but I love genuine, sincere communication. While I only heard from this Steemian toward the end, the comment was one of those which keep you going, when you wonder "@roleerob what are you doing 'in there'" ... 😊

I suppose it can be a bit "scary" to list some people and then agonize over whether I missed someone or anything related ... "Making my list, checking it twice ..." Nope, not going to do that ... πŸ˜‰

I am just grateful for the opportunity to have "met" them all. Given "the Challenge" I wrote about in this post, I make a conscious effort to not take this for granted.

Wrapping this up, I can now "check the box" for one of the steps I wanted to take, once safely back home. I will be producing a recap / summary post in the next day or so, with links to every R2R post, for ease of future reference. And, I am thinking about writing a post or two about my reflections, while "out on the road."

Once completed, I do not know when I will be creating travel-related posts again. I am blessed to have seen and experienced many things over a long life. My memory is still pretty good. Whether I could uncover the needed "photographic evidence" to write about them? Well ... That could be a problem ... πŸ˜‰

Time will tell!

Closing

Above all, I hope this post has been a source of some encouragement. Not that I am deluded to think you can "buy" encouragement. Let's face it, the SBI Shares distributed here are not going to change anyone's life dramatically - either yours or mine.

But, I believe there is great power in "it is the thought that counts." I am genuinely doing what I reasonably can, in my own small way, to express my gratitude and to support the work of others. There are a lot of real people "in here," who are sacrificially investing their time, often with very little to show for it. But, they labor on, faithfully and consistently, with their hopes and aspirations intact about what might be.

Until "next time," all the best to you for a better tomorrow, as we all work together to build our Steem Community! πŸ‘ 😊

Respectfully,
Steemian @roleerob
