ULOG 043 - Winter Break Day 2

There was a big rainstorm during the night, the wind was so strong my boy was a bit scared. But comes the morning and he was excited as he saw a lot of snow covering the street and cars. We were lucky there was some snow falling overnight but the temperature made it melt slightly and it was a little bit icey.

ULOG 043 - Winter Break Day 2

This is the view from our rented place, the village is already beautiful, but it's even more amazing when covered in snow.

We were late this morning and missed the 9 am start time for Thredboland, the snow childcare. So we had to buy a half day ticket for the kids starting at 12.45. So both families went to the cafe to get some coffee while some grown-ups went for their skiing lessons. We did that too four years ago, it was fun. You get to learn how to walk like a crab to go uphill. Then you learn the snow plough breaking technique.

It was not that very cold but the wind made it bad. I had to put on two jackets lol. If there was no wind, it would have been a perfect day.

After dropping the kids in Thredboland, my wife and I went with my friend's nephew for a walk in the village to watch the scenery and take some photos. We've found Skippy the snow Kangaroo:

There are beautiful mountain sceneries in the area, you can drive outside of Threadbo in the Alpine Way, but even a walk in the village can be a treat. Here's a black and white shot from my iPhone 8 Plus. I think two nights will be very short but extending the stay can be pretty expensive. Maybe if the price of STEEM goes up, I'd might be able to afford a longer stay next year 😄.

A little walk further up and we spotted this little wooden bridge over Thredbo river. Wouldn't it be amazing to have a holiday house, or even a permanent house near a river just like this? And if the river is fishable then that would be paradise haha.

I took my wife down near the river for a photo, it was good to get close and see the water flowing by our feet but I wouldn't put my feet in the water at this time of the year though 😱.

Some more photos with the beautiful snowy mountains:

And for the friend's nephew for his Facebook :-)

Last photo for my wife by the cute little pond before we head back to Thredboland to take some shots of our boy on the ski.

Thien-San was having fun with his friend Jaymin (our friend's boy). At 2 pm, the kids in Thredboland get to learn how to ski with an instructor and last time we came, I've bumped into them by accident so I now know where to go to see them practice. I spotted San on the carpet taking him up the hill.

He was still wobbly on the snow but did very well and know how to stop himself. We are considering taking him again tomorrow morning as it would be a shame as he only had one hour of lesson and was making progress. Usually with young kids, if you take them for two or three consecutive days then they will be very good and can start skiing with you.

At the end of the lesson, he gained more self-confidence and was doing pretty good.
