@steem-plus edits old post instead of making a new one

Project information

Expected behavior

When posting while being logged in @steem-plus one would expect a new post at all times

Actual behavior under special conditions

If one uses the same first tag and title as used in an earlier post the old post will be edited instead of a new post is created as long as one is logged in @steem-plus.

The links I'm talking about

New post: @pundito/6ttpmy-treetuesday-by-old-guy-photos
Old post: @pundito/treetuesday-by-old-guy-photos
Both have the same content now.

How to reproduce

  • make sure you are logged in @steem-plus
  • write a new post
  • use the same first tag and title that was useed in an earlier post
  • hit the post button
  • check if there is a new post in a new browser window and check the old post
  • I did this using the latest version of @steem-plus available on 30.10.2018 (10/30/2018) four days ago in combination with Google Chrome

Reason and solution

The reason for this behavior is that the permalink to the post is created with the first tag and the title.
If you write a new post under the same condition without being logged in @steem-plus steemit will check if the link already exists and add some characters to the permalink of the new post.
This actually would also be the solution for the @steem-plus plugin.

  1. check if the post already exists
  2. if so, modify the permalink, if not just leave it this way
  3. post
