Card Review

Prons

  • Dragon splinters in generally has lots of use case for as long as you use Dragon summoner, can make a line up with an element of your choosing.

  • Dragon Jumper already was very fast with 5 speed and with Flying ability, it will have another 25% chance to dodge melee and range attacks.

  • Opportunity allows this card to attack the monster with the least health regardless of its position.

  • Snare will remove the Flying ability of the target which will make them unable to evade attacks and affected with Earthquake rule set.

  • Stun makes the opponent to be unable to attack when the ability takes effect of the target.

Cons

  • New updates made it unable to attack on Fog of War rule set.

  • Prone to attacking opponents with Martyr which will result to buffing the monsters next to it.

For this battle, we have the Silenced Summoner which make summoner abilities disabled together with Earthquake where non- flying monsters received damage at the end of the round and Equalizer that makes the health of all monsters the same. Thinking of this conditions, I choose the following line- up:

  • Summoner: I used Quix the Devious because even if I cannot use the summoner abilities, it will still allows me to use Dragon splinters.

  • 1st Position: I used Void Dragon for my tank since it was very fast with both Flying and Phase that allows this card to evade melee, range and magic damage and even if it get hit by magic damage, it has void which will reduce the damage by half.

  • 2nd Position: I placed the Whelp Herder which is an Opportunity monster with Snare ability that will target the monster with the lowest health and remove their Flying ability if they have it.

  • 3rd Position: I placed the Dragon Jumper which like Whelp Herder, is an Opportunity monster with Snare ability that will target the monster with the lowest health and remove their Flying ability if they have it and it also got the Flying ability which will make it unaffected by Earthquake rule set.

  • 4th Position: I used Spirit Hoarder for it has Blind which will increase the miss chance of the opponent by 15% and remove any positive status effect on the target monster. It also got the Triage ability which restores the health of backline monsters that receives damages.

  • 5th Position: I usedDoctor Blight with Camouflage to make it unable to be attacked directly while dealing Poison to the target and gaining health for each monster that got defeated with Scavenger.

  • 6th Position: I placed Igor Darkspear at the back just to be a cannon fodder against sneak attack but it also got Stun which have 50% chance on preventing the target to attack for a turn.

Battle Phase

Pre- battle Phase: Applying ability buffs and de- buffs

Round 1:

image.png

With the Equalizer rule set, the health of all monsters became 9 basing it to the health of Void Dragon.

  • Pelacor Bandit attacks Igor Darkspear for 4 damage but got healed by Spirit Hoarder and is back to 8 health.

  • Void Dragon attacks Gargoya Lion which triggers its Enrage ability and attacks back which causes Void Dragon to lose 5 health and another 2 health from Xenith Archer. Thankfully Deeplurker miss or it will be taken down by it.

  • Dragon Jumper attacks Gargoya Lion which removes all of its armor and Snare it, removing it's Flying ability but the armor and health was restored by Merdaali Guardian so the attacks from my team was used to reduce the armor again but it got damage again by Spirit Hoarder and Doctor Blight who also deal poison on it.

Round 2:

image.png

Earthquake damage took its effect and those without Flying ability receives 2 damage.

  • Pelacor Bandit attacks Igor Darkspear which again was healed by Spirit Hoarder but it only got 5 health now.

  • Void Dragon attacks Gargoya Lion but it was Dragon Jumper that defeated it.

  • Uraeus attacked Void Dragon and misses but Deeplurker attacks it and this time it didn't survive, making Whelp Herder to take the front spot.

  • Merdaali Guardian restores the health and armor or Uraeus which takes Whelp Herder to remove it.

Xenith Archer attacks Whelp Herder for 2 damage while Spirit Hoarder and Doctor Blight attacks Uraeus for 4 damage.

Round 3:

image.png

Another round, another damage inflicted by Earthquake rule set damages non- flying monsters.

  • Pelacor Bandit attacks Igor Darkspear and defeated it this round.

  • Uraeus also got defeated by Dragon Jumper but Deeplurker also gets to defeat Whelp Herder.

  • Merdaali Guardian restores the health of Deeplurker and Xenith Archer was able to hit Dragon Jumper for damage.

  • Spirit Hoarder restore its health back to 8 and together with Doctor Blight they attacked Deeplurker with 4 damage and also got Poison affliction.

Round 4:

image.png

With the round 4 set of Earthquake and Poison, Deeplurker was out before the battle phase.

  • Pelacor Bandit attacks Dragon Jumper for 4 damage but it got back to it with 4 damage and afflicting it with Snare.

  • Merdaali Guardian heals Pelacor Bandit but it got Spirit Hoarder and Doctor Blight reduced its health to 4 and also Poisons it.

Round 5:

image.png

Since Pelacor Bandit was Snared and got Poison, it got defeated before the start of battle phase which only takes an attack from Dragon Jumper and Spirit Hoarder to end the battle as even though Xenith archer was faster, it was a range monster and cannot attack at the first position.

Battle Recap

Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at 3speak or in Splinterlands.

drag.png

Did your Strategy Work?

For this battle, We have Earthquake rule set which ensures us that the opponent will play with one or two Flying monsters and my strategy this time was to use the Snare ability to remove the Flying ability from this monsters and let the rule set be the one to defeat them and I was able to execute it really well for this battle, snaring both Gargoya Lion and Pelacor Bandit.

drag.png

Do You Like Dragon Jumper

When we have Earthquake rule set, the chance that the opponent will use monsters with Flying ability was very high so having Dragon Jumper at level 2 is more than enough to remove their Flying and made them affected by the rule set. Even at level 1, Dragon Jumper was already good since it has the same speed and attack. Just make sure to look out for those Martyr ability cause it can turn the situation to your disadvantage.

drag.png

What will you try differently next time?

Summoners

When it comes to summoners, I would like to make Dragon Jumper to have stronger attack with the help of Archmage Arius or Daria Dragonscale that gives +1 melee damage but the True Strike and +2 Speed from Byzantine Kitty will make Dragon Jumper formidable and more fast. Since the summoner abilities were banned for this battle, I was not able to use the effects of Quix the Devious but it certainly was also a good card to match for it since it will reduce the speed of the opponent by -1.
