For this battle, we have the What Doesn't Kill You rule set where monsters gain the Enrage ability which allows them to increase their speed and melee damage when they lose health and Earthquake where monsters receive damage every turn unless they have Flying. Thinking of this conditions, I choose the following line- up:
Summoner: I used Obsidian which gives +1 magic damage on all magic monsters so that I can play Earth magic team since it is more likely that the opponent will have armor to protect themselves from Earthquake.
1st Position: I used Grund as my tank for it has large health and can attack twice with Double Strike ability and with Enrage, from 4 melee attack, it will becomes 6 when damage which will allow it to deal huge damage as well as the chance to use Trample when it defeats the opponent.
2nd Position: I placed the Mycelic Slipspawn, another monster with huge health with Taunt ability to attract the opponent to attack this monster to reduce as much damage to the tank while throwing huge magic damage.
3rd Position: I placed Magi of Chaos as another heavy magic attacker but since it has lower health is the reason why it is on this position.
4th Position, I used Queen Mycelia although the card has small health, it has the Protect ability which gives +2 armor to all allied monster saving damage from Earthquake for a turn and will provide healing for Mycelic Slipspawn with Triage.
5th Position: I used Goblin Psychic which provides Tank Heal for Grund as well as prevent the opponent from healing with Affliction while also reducing magic attacks of the opponent with Silence.
6th Position: The last member of my team will be Regal Peryton with the Flying ability which will prevent this card from being affected by the Earthquake ruleset so it was place last.
Battle Phase
Round 1:
With Mycelic Slipspawn absorbing all attacks, the team were able to deal enormous damage to the opponent which resulted by Bramble Pixie and Nectar Queen, Grund dealing the final blow on it. Queen Mycelia has restored some some of the damage taken by Mycelic Slipspawn and Goblin Psychic has sealed Pelacor Mercenary's ability to heal at the end of the round.
Round 2:
After the Earthquake damage has been inflicted all the armor for my team has been gone except for Regal Peryton while Grund who already has no armor recieves -2 damage which causes it to enrage, turning it's melee damage to 6 and speed to 5 and using it, it was able to defeat Pelacor Mercenary then the succeeding magic attack from my team has defeated the Regal Peryton of the opponent. Although, Mycelic Slipspawn has been defeated by Runemancer Florre by its magic and range attack.
Round 3:
Another set of damage from Earthquake has been afflicted, causing Grund to only have 3 health and it was defeated by Runemancer Florre which has now on the front and cannot use melee attacks although the Enrage has allowed this card to have 6 speed and attack first. But after that a barrage of magic damage from my team has been inflicted to it causing it's defeat. now it was only Cornealus that was left for the opponent team.
Round 4:
Since Cornealus as a range monster cannot attack at the front, it only takes another barrage of magic attacks from my team for it lose all of its health despite being able to heal. And that's where the battle ends.
Battle Recap
Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at 3speak or in Splinterlands.
Did your Strategy Work?
Although I only have Regal Peryton with Flying ability I was stillable to won the match thanks to the huge health of Grund and Mycelic Slipspawn which was able to tank away the rule set damage as well as my opponent attacks which allows my team to be able to beat the opponent and the huge damage that Grund was able to deal was a huge key for this as it was able to defeat 2 out of 6 monster of the opponent line- up.
Do You Like Grund
I think Grund is a very useful tank with how it was able to inflict damage twice per turn with the possibility to inflict more damage when it defeat an opponent. Having no armor or damage reduction ability is what this card is missing but can be filled in by summoner abilities and other supporting cards.
What will you try differently next time?
Summoners
![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
For a low mana fight, the use of Grund together with Scarred Llama Mage can produce some amazing result with the Last Stand increasing all the stats of the card but it was also interesting to see what it will do when against melee monsters and it got Mylor Crowling for the summoner with its Thorns active. The new airdrop summoner Immortalis can also provide some good combination as it can give Grund the Void ability, reducing magic attacks and Shatter to completely eradicate their armor upon contact.
When it comes to Dragon summoner, the additional 2 speed by Byzantine Kitty and True Strike will cause decisive blows to the opponent while also allowing the card to stay as long as it can by providing Tank Heal on it. The Flying ability that Brighton Bloom provided can also allow this card the chance of being attacked by melee and range monsters.
