Card Review
Prons
Has large health and armor that and have the Void Armor ability so magic attacks does not easily damage this card.
As neutral tank, it can be used on almost all rule sets and together with any others elements.
Has Giant Killer that can deal double damage on monsters with 10 or more mana cost.
Demoralize helps to reduce the melee damage of all opponent monsters.
Cons
Slow speed will likely cause this card to miss attacks against fast opponents.
Deathblow was almost unuseable.
Legionnaire Alvar is a Legendary melee splinter from the Neutral Element which means that it can be used most of the time as long as the rule set permits it and can be used together with any element of your choosing. It has huge health and armor, making it a good tank and the Void Armor that it has prevents magic on piercing through its health as long as it has an armor left. The Demoralize ability that it has reduces the melee attack of the enemy team as long as it remains on play while being a threat on monsters with 10 or more mana cost for it has the Giant Killer ability. It is a little bit slow which makes it not an ideal choice when facing fast opponents but at Reverse Speed rule set, this will be a good card choice. Adding Deathblow ability to this card feels weird to me because as a tank, its main function is to absorbed attacks so most of the time, it will long be gone in play before it can use ability to attack the final opponent by which , if it is the last one, chances are you probably won whether or not you attack using this card.

For this battle, we only have the Up Close & Personal which means only melee monsters can be used and at the same time the Fog of War rule set disables the ability of monsters to have Sneak attacks, limiting my attack patterns and quite a weird rule set combination. Thinking of this conditions, I choose the following line- up:
The Summoner Quix the Devious though the -1 range were useless, it still reduce the speed of the opponent and choosing the Dragon summoner lets me have a combination of Dragon monsters and any element of my choosing which in this case was the Water monsters.
I used Diemonshark as my tank for it has large health and armor while being also fast which will likely allow this card to evade opponent attacks specially once the Enrage ability was activated. Not only that it will gain more speed, it will also gain more damage and in case that it was able to defeat the opponent, it can attack once again with the Trample ability.
For the 2nd position, I placed the Carnage Titan, as a secondary tank that can also attack the 1st position monster using Reach and can attack twice per turn with Double Strike. It also has Shield which reduces melee and range damage by half.
The 3rd position, I placed Flying Squid on the case that Diemonshark was defeated and Carnage Titan goes into the 1st position, then it can attack with Reach and at the same time, increase the evasion chance of my team with the Blind ability.
For my 4th card, I used Legionnaire Alvar which is the featured monster of this week's battle challenge. A little different from the standard tank, I placed this card here in order for Opportunity attacks to target this card, shielding my team from potential damage while also reducing the melee attack of the opponent with Demoralize.
On the 5th position, I used Disintegrator to further reduce the melee damage of the opponent for another Demoralize while also being the next potential target for Opportunity attacks if Legionnaire Alvar was defeated but if it survives until reaching the 1st position, then it also has the Trample which allows it to attack again when it defeats an opponent..
The last member of my team will be Deeplurker which is an Opportunity monster with the Poison ability. This allows the monster to be able to attack the opponent with the least health and a 50% chance to poison it, making the opponent, to lose -2 health each round.
Battle Phase
Round 1
Both teams did not suffer any loses on this round or any damage was directly dealt on their health though both of our main tanks loses their armor but my Carnage Titan has its armor reduced because of the Thorns from Djinn Chawalla and Legionnaire Alvar when attacked by the opponent's Deeplurker and poisoning it. On the other hand, My Deeplurker was also able to poison the opponent's Disintegrator which also has its armor gone so attacking it the next round will be easier.
Round 2
Both tanks has their Enrage activated as Diemonshark attacks Djinn Chwalla which in turn damages Diemonshark with Thorns but during this round lots of misses occurs for the attack of Djinn Chwalla and the opponent's Carnage Titan against Diemonshark while unexpectedly, my Deeplurker should have one- hit the opponent Disintegrator this round but miss the attack.
Round 3
This time, Diemonshark was defeated it was not able to evade the attack of Djinn Chwalla this time combined with the Thorns damage it recieves and for the 2nd time, Deeplurker misses again for dealing the final blow on Djinn Chwalla so it was up to my Carnage Titan to end it. No futher damage was done this time aside from some armor.
Round 4
On this round Legionnaire Alvar and the Opponent's Disintegrator dies of Poison which from the previous round did not suffer any damage on thier health due to direct attacks. Despite losing much armor earlier my Carnage Titan was able to close the gap with the opponent's since it has the Shield which reduces the damage that it recieves, However, the opponent was able to poison it while I was only able to reduce the armor of the opponent with my Deeplurker this round.
Round 5
On this round, no damage was done due to lots of misses aside from both Carnage Titan that got defeated.
Round 6
We were able to defeat the opponent's Flying Squid having my Deeplurker dealing the final blow.
Round 7-8
The match have the same pattern for the next 2 rounds Flying Squid attacks and Deeplurker dealing the final blow until it was at the 8th round where we are able to beat the opponent.
Battle Recap
Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at 3speak or in Splinterlands.
Did your Strategy Work?
The battle rule set was very awkward this time Legionniare Alvar got to have a different use case aside from being the usual frontal tank but instead served to tank Opportunity attacks. While it did not last until the end of the round, it were still able to help in absorbing as much attacks from the opponent monster that saves my team from being defeated.
Do You Like Legionnaire Alvar?
I think Legionnaire Alvar was a very decent tank on terms of the ability and stats that it have, While I do not use it most of the time when expecting fast opponent's I can always use it when dealing with a slow team and when I am unsure whether the opponent will use magic attacks.
What will you try differently next time?
Summoners

As this is a melee monster and a Neutral one, there are lots of different combinations that you can use with this card and can also played it with any summoner and be just fine but if we apply the same rules I have on this battle then I would either go with summoner that will either increase the melee attack of my team or decrease the melee attack of the opponent were the following summoners above can be used.
