Civil War Diary #7: "The country is coming apart - the advocates of radical egalitarianism are winning."

Globalists, Deep State, Democrats, Progressives..."Whoever controls the language controls minds. So they are hell-bent on weaponizing words to advance their totalitarian agenda."--Mark Tapson

"The country is coming apart, and the advocates of radical egalitarianism are winning."--Victor Davis Hanson

Let's lead off with Emmett Tyrell's article, which fascinates because it lends expression to an observation so self-evident that I am kicking myself for not seeing it myself:

My conclusion was that when any entity falls under the dominance of liberalism, it loses all sense of its fundamental purpose. A city loses all sense of its purpose, which is governance. A university loses all sense of its purpose, which is education. You name the entity -- if it falls under the dominance of liberalism, it becomes utterly confused as to its goal. Now, under liberalism's more extreme evolutionary stage, called progressivism or leftism, progressives and the left cannot even maintain a public toilet facility for men or women. Going to the bathroom at a public comfort station today can be a source of embarrassment, or even an actionable civil rights matter where the left is in charge.

Tyrell is focussed on our universities, but his remarks are equally supported by a quick glance at our Democratic Party-controlled inner cities, where violence and despair exist in full measure because the Unicorn riding morons running them have no purpose beyond maintaining their own power by bribing their serfs. Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Detroit...turned into war-torn swampland by so-called "progressives".

Laura Hollis' Miscellaneous Media Musings provides a snapshot of battle being waged for American liberty, and ends with an ominous warning for the leftist media:

Dear Disgruntled Lefties: If you think you'll achieve a victory by having Trump impeached and removed, I beg you to think again. Nearly 63 million people voted for him. He won 30 states and took 306 electoral votes. Vladimir Putin's coy ploys notwithstanding, Donald Trump won fair and square. It's bad enough having to listen to your nonstop tirades. If you overturn an election, you'll have a war on your hands.

David Harsani examines another piece of the liberty puzzle as he points out a very real danger Americans face: The obliteration of our First Amendment rights. He looks to Germany and the United Kingdom, and then turns his attention to the American Left: "Idealism isn't found in the notions of enlightenment but in identity and indignation. And if you don't believe this demand to mollycoddle every notion on the left that portends danger of freedom of expression, you haven't been paying attention".

Rush Limbaugh underscored the Civil War Diary theme Tuesday. As always, he pulls no punches. If you want to get right to the meat & potatoes, start at about the 3:00 minute mark. The quote below comes at 5:00:

“We’re in the midst of a silent coup,” he said. “These people are trying to take this president out. And everybody understands that. So why in that circumstance do you think that the same people trying to destroy Donald Trump are going to help him get rid of Obamacare? Are going to help him reform the tax code? They’re not. They are going to have to be defeated, not worked with. There isn’t any cooperation.”
  • Hanson, Victor Davis: The Fifth American War
  • The country is coming apart, and the advocates of radical egalitarianism are winning.
The wars between Trump, the media, the deep state, and the progressive party — replete with charges and counter-charges of scandal, collusion, and corruption — are merely symptoms of a much larger fundamental and growing divide between Americans that is reaching a dangerous climax.
  • Harsani, David: Be Very Worried About the Future of Free Expression
  • You can see where this is going by checking out Europe. Dismiss slippery slope arguments if you like, but in Germany, where hate speech has been banned, police have raided the homes of 36 people accused of posting "illegal content." A law was passed last month in Germany that says social media companies could face fines of millions of dollars for failure to remove hate speech within 24 hours. When debates about immigration are at the forefront in Germany, the threat to abuse these laws is great.
In England, a man was recently sentenced to more than a year in prison after being found guilty for stirring up religious hatred with a stupid post on Facebook. There are hate-crimes cops who not only hunt down citizens who say things deemed inappropriate but also implore snitches to report the vulgar words of their fellow citizens.
  • Hollis, Laura: Miscellaneous Media Musings
  • So the left is doubling down. No small amount of effort is being dedicated to silencing the right. Conservative think tanks and advocacy groups are denounced as "hate groups." Commentators like Sean Hannity come under fire. We're seeing mobs, irate protests and riots on college campuses to silence conservative viewpoints -- even from "underrepresented" members like female scholars (Christina Hoff Sommers), immigrants (Ayaan Hirsi Ali), African-Americans (Condoleezza Rice) and gays (Milo Yiannopoulos). No one should be surprised at this -- look at the lengths to which the left goes to silence those on its own side who don't toe the party line: (Frances Lee, Rebecca Tuvel, Bret Weinstein).
  • Tapson, Mark: The Left’s next step: Redefining ‘hate speech’ as violence
  • It might seem obvious, Barrett begins, that “violence is physically damaging; verbal statements aren’t.” Yes, that should be obvious to anyone except illiberals, who know that whoever controls the language controls minds. So they are hell-bent on weaponizing words to advance their totalitarian agenda.
The left has spent decades successfully normalizing the intentionally vague term “hate speech” in the culture, even going so far as to insist that it should not be protected by the First Amendment. But what is “hate speech”? It’s anything the left wants it to be, of course.

Emma Sulkowicz, Columbia University's Mattress Girl

  • Tyrell, Emmett: When Institutions Go Left
  • So here you have a left-wing institution living precisely up to my claims. It has lost all sight of what it is supposed to do. It attempts to handle a criminal case when it should have handed it over to the cops. Its campus is torn by demonstrations and students carrying around a mattress that's supposedly emblematic of an alleged crime that both the police and a university panel say was never committed. Sulkowicz is accorded university credit for carrying the mattress around campus. And, oh, yes, she claims this "performance art" is allowed as a matter of free speech.
