How to crush bronze with these WATER cards
Hello everyone, about 2 weeks ago, I started playing Splinterlands again after I heard that the Terms will be changed and bots won't be allowed anymore in the modern format. As I had to start with a rating of 0, I never played the modern format before, I had to climb my way up. After searching for information, which isn't always that easy to find, I found that some cards were really usefull for me to climb out of bronze.
As mentioned, finding this information wasn't always that easy, so I'll share those op cards with you guys. If you're already more experienced, than this guide probably won't help you, but I hope it could be some aid for newer, inexperienced players. In this article, I'll solely focus on the water splinter, don't worry, in the future, I'll probably write about the other splinters aswell! You can find my articles about the earth splinter here and about the fire splinter here.
Summoners to rent
Kelya Frendul
The chanches are that you already own this summoner, as he's a rare summoner from the Chaos Legion packs. For those who don't own this card, it's a good idea to rent it. Why? It's a versatile summoner which is quite fine with a lot of monsters of the water splinter. Will it guarantee you your wins? In my opinion not but in a decent amount of situations it could be a tough opponent. The +1 speed scales quite well nearly all monsters and the +1 shield could often be just enough to block a devastating attack.
Possibilus the wise
Personally I got this card gifted so I don't have to rent it. But he certainly has its good use cases so I would rent him. He's great in combination with the Demented Shark, which let's the monsters from the second place attack as he gives the Reach ability to all monsters. This in combination with his trample ability could sometimes deal awesome damage. Another nice combination is with Coastal sentry, as it could trigger trample twice with the Double strike ability. Although this one is a reward card which isn't tradeable yet.
Monsters to rent
Djinn Oshannus
Djinn Oshannus is one of the previous reward cards. As he has a hight amount of prints, he's rather cheap, so it could be that uyou already bought him. He has a decent amount of health with high speed, hey evading some attacks, and he has the void ability so magic attacks only deal half the damage. Price/quality wise a very good card in my opinion!
River Hellondale
River hellondals is a powerfull card as well. Especially the resurrect ability could combo nice with some other cards. For example if you could get a monster with the martyr ability in the first position, than you could let it resurrect so the second monster gets the martyr effect twice. So image a martyr monster on the first position, Djinn Oshannus on the second and than somewhere later River Hellondale. This gets you a djinn Oshannus with 4magic attack, 7speed and 12health if it's all triggered right, seems quite nice right?
Runemancer Kye
Another magic monster, one would nearly start to say I like magic monsters. This one has the fly ability together with Life leech. If you would position it in the back position, it will be able to survive sneak attacks because of the fly ability helping to dodge while leeching health of the opponents. Biggest disadvantage is its high mana cost, especially in bronze 11mana is a lot as most matches are capped with low mana rules.
Torrent fiend
I mentioned his earth and fire variant already in my other articles. The fact that he costs zero mana is always a nice addition to your deck if you have a spare place on the battlefield. He absorbs 1 attack for free, so why don't get / rent him? Especially in the low mana matches of bronze, it could make the difference between winning and losing.
Conclusion
I hope this guide about which cards to rent in the water Splinter was helpfull for you guys! These cards don't cost too much dec to rent and helped me to climb out of bronze rather fast! Will soon try to write a guide about the other splinters aswell. Feel free to let me know in the comments if you would add some other cards aswell!
How did I begin to play Splinterlands?
It all began in December 2021, I was a bit bored and was looking for a new game to play on my laptop. After googling a bit, I saw the term play2earn in my google results. I didn't know it at that time but it seemed awesome, earning money while playing games instead of spending money on those games. Soon I learned that play2earn means that you can indeed earn some money to play the games. How does it work? While playing those games, you can earn NFT's of those games. These NFT's can be traded and sold for cryptocurrencies which could be swapped for fiat if you would like to. That's how I started.
Do you want to try out Splinterlands aswell?
