Battle Mage Secrets: Explosive weaponry. My battle and alternate lineups.

This weeks Battle Mage Secrets challenge is about Explosive Weaponry. Explosive weaponry

The Explosive Weaponry rule gives all monsters blast. This is one of the more impactful rules in the game, and your lineup should be adapted specifically for it. Some high priority abilities to include in this ruleset are:

Reflection shield negates blast damage. Blast makes it hard to avoid killing Martyr units. Taunt allows you to direct the opponents damage, and is great to use along with Reflection Shield. Swiftness gives you a better chance of striking first, which is very important because of the huge damage output in Explosive Weaponry matches. Scattershot avoids taunt and will usually hit targets in the middle of the lineup, allowing blast to hit two monsters. Shield and Void are great for reducing blast damage, even nullyfying it if the blast damage is 1.

My battle: Explosive weaponry battle

The battle configuration I had was the following: Modern Diamond league, 34 mana, Counterspell, Born Again and Explosive Weaponry. Two colors available: Death and Dragon.

My summoner choices were Quix the Devious (level 4) and Thaddius Brood (level 6), so it had to be Quix.

My lineup:

The idea is to punish sneak setups by placing Vruz last, and Revealer next to him. Revelaer is great here because of the Reflection Shield which negates both the Counterspell rule and the Explosive Weaponry rule. I took Lira the Dark for the Swiftness aswell as the Opportunity attack, and Silent Sha-Vi because of its speed. Djinn Chwala is a solid frontline that can both tank and dish out damage, and its True Strike is good in case we face an Astral Entity or a Void Dragon.

Opponents lineup:

My opponent went for Lux Vega (seems like this is 50% of battles in in Modern Diamond League), with Harklaw frontline, a Windeku to absorb blast damage, Silent Sha-vi to grind down the backline and two ranged attackers. Lastly, an Ever-Hungry skull as Sneak protection (works great unless its poisoned hit by an Uraeus. It also directs the opportunity attack from my Lira and hits back with Return Fire: Great counter).

Result:

By round two, the Vruz trap I set up had produced this Revelaer:

Along with the frontline damage from Djinn Chwala, these two became too much for the opponent team, and I could harvest those sweet reward shares. Victory!

Alternate lineups

These were some of the lineups I considered for the match:

Quix the Devious (sneak strategy)

Quix the Devious (double swiftness)

Thaddius Brood (Protect and Poison)

Other relevant lineups:

These are stronger lineups for those with stronger decks than me.

Astral Entity (double swiftness)

Byzantine Kitty (3x Redemption + Opportunity focus)
