The was named Vallée D’amour by the French in 1930, King Bao Dai changed the name to The Valley of Peace and then in 1953 its named was changed again to Thung Lung Tinh Yeu, which once again means The Valley of Love. It is so named because of its tranquil, romantic ambience.
At its heart is Da Thiem Lake, constructed in 1972, which covers an area of about 32 acres, whist the whole valley covers an impressive 600 acres or two and a half square kilometres. The Love valley has many kitch statues dedicated to love. There is a giant pair of hands exchanging rings, hearts, where couples stand for photographs, and others.

The surrounding countryside is lush pine forest and there are beautiful flower gardens and paths enabling walks through the area. One of the paths leads up Paradise Hill from when you get a good vantage point of the whole valley. The valley starts 6 kilometres to the north of the city centre. Buses run from Phu Dong Thien Vuong in the centre of town. The valley is a popular honeymoon destination for Vietnamese people, who enjoy riding in horse drawn carriages throughout the area.
