Hanoi Attractions: #18 National Museum of Vietnamese History

The National Museum of Vietnamese History can be found to the rear of the Opera House, in the Hoan Kiem District of Hanoi. Built by the French it was originally the archaeological research institution, attached to The French School. Following a refurbishment in 1920 it underwent extensive redesign between 1926 and 1932, when it became a museum. In 1958 the government acquired the building and extended the scope of the museum to include artefacts of Eastern art and national historically important items.
