Sitting of the coast of Hoi An and dominating the view from Cua Dai Beach are the Cham Islands. This group of 8 rather small islands form a section of the UNESCO recognised Cu Lao Cham Marine Park, which is a world renowned biosphere reserve. Boat trips can be booked from Cua Dai Beach, the journey takes about 30 mins by speedboat.
This is one of the most important scenic areas of Vietnam. The islands are named independently as follows: Hon Lao (Pearl); Hon Dai (long); Hon Mo (tomb); Hon Kho Me; Hon Kho con (dry); Hon La (leaf); Hon Tai (ear) and Hon Ong (east wind). They are administer by the Tan Hiep Commune in Hoi An. The people here mainly survive by fishing though tourism is now bringing in some much need funds.
The islands are a major area for scuba diving and also offer nice beaches, the main one being Bai Chong Beach, and facilities for camping.
The best time to visit Hoi An is between April and June: Read about this in depth here: @inseasia/best-time-to-visit-vietnam-5-hoi-an
