Introduction

The week battle mage secret we have look into the rule set Keep Your Distance
Nice rule set where you know there will be no melee monster or is there...

Ruleset

Units with melee attacks may not be used.

Basically only ranged and magic units will be in the mix.

Official ruleset information from splinterlands: List-of-In-Game-Rulesets

Abilities Synergies / Strategies

Void/Void Armor/Phase/Magic Reflect - protect yourself more against magic attack because there is 33% higher change there will be magic units. Often setup will be magic units in the front and ranged in the back.

headwinds / return fire - if you expect a more ranged play counter with head winds and return fire to protect yourself against ranged units.

Avoid

Not 100% avoid but be aware of Shield - Shield protect you against melee and ranged the chance on melee monster is higher so this will only benefit when ranged monster is select. Most of the time i gamble that magic is selected.

Example battle

Strategy

High mana battle extra armor so I expect some extra magic units. So definitely want a high speed unit with phase. Debuf magic as much as i can and when possible also debuf ranged.

Rulesets

Keep Your Distance:
This week rule set melee units may not be selected.

Armored Up:
All units will receive 2 extra armor

Heavy Hitters:
All units will gain the knock out ability. This means units will do 2x damage against the stunned units.

The Lineup

Summoner

CardReason
In this battle is was a choice between Obsidian and Quix I want a fast unit with phase therefore I have chosen Quix.

Monsters Lineup

#1#2#3#4#5#6

Void Dragon (lvl 3)
The most important unit I expect magic units and this unit has phase, this in combination with the -1 speed of Quix this should help with misses.

Thane Newsong (lvl 4 GF)
Mainly selected for the Strengthen so all monster will gain an extra heath. because itself has some nice health it can withstand some extra punches when it gets in the front.

Queen Mycelia (lvl 3)
If my opponent also uses a scatter shot and it is very likely it will also select Chaos dragon Queen Mycelia can heal up some backline units

Goblin Psychic (lvl 8)
Silence is strong and in this battle important there is a 33% higher chance my opponent will select magic.

Chaos Dragon (lvl 3)
One of my favorite dragon units might be my favorite dragon. high health scattershot with blast is a nice combo

Madcap Magus (lvl 4 GF)
Hope this unit will stay alive for long time so can gather many health points

Rounds

Start :

image.png
Ohno this is going to be an tough battle. Kitty with +2 speed and true strike noooo.
First thoughts, this is a loss. His void dragon has 8 speed that will cause many misses on my side. Playing against Luke-WTP, wandering if he still plays or it is bot, loved his content not seeing any video of him anymore https://www.youtube.com/@Krill-Gaming.

Round 1:

image.png
Already some miss from my side😌. Not looking good for my team. my chaos dragon need to land its shots very precise to make a chance at this point.

Round 2:

image.png
Lucky my healers are doing well healing the front monsters. nothing much changed in this round.

Round 3:

image.png
At this point still not sure who will win this battle. my front is holding up this battle will change when the first monster in the backline will die. For now i don't seem to be able to hit his void dragon.

Round 4:

image.png
Great hit on Oshuur Constantia this is important Ruler of the Seas almost dead this good be very important to remove the swiftness and silence.

Round 5:

image.png
Lucky me two scattershot landing perfect one with blast damage an one directly on Ruler of the Seas. This tips the battle in my favor. But still also my backline monster are not very strong anymore.
And all those misses...

Round 6:

image.png
This can become a lengthy battle. Nothing much changed this round. it just should not kill my healers then the battle should be mine.

Round 7:

image.png
Supply Runner is down to one health, could I get another swiftness unit down.

Round 8:

image.png
Yes his Supply Runner and Chaos Dragon are down. Now the battle is over both of his units cannot do any damage to my Void Dragon because of the void and they are only doing 1 damage.

Round 9:

image.png
Indeed no damage now it is just a waiting game and many many misses but i will win this battle.

Round 10:

image.png
2 misses

Round 11:

image.png
It is a slow battle just one miss this round

Round 12:

image.png
4 misses will we enter the fatigue before I can kill him.

Round 13:

image.png
3 misses. My Queen Mycelia is healing all teammate again as if nothing has happened to them.

Round 14:

image.png
2misses, finally the Void Dragon is dead. Now it will go fast. Also a very important affliction with the first strike of my Goblin Psychic. Now Baakjira cannot heal itself

Round 15/16/17:

image.png

image.png
Still 3 round where needed to kill Baakjira.

Conclusion

Nice battle to watch, in the beginning i just had some more luck in killing the first monster else it could have shifted the battle towards Luke-WTP. Love his kitty with supply runner and ruler of the sea making the void dragon nearly impossible to hit, lucky I got some scattershot to avoid that.
And don forget level 3 Kitty is approximately 750$ what impressive summoner.
