I’m at the kids playground so my boy can do some biking this morning. Around the slide I noticed some dandelion flowers ready to be blown away by the next breeze. It’s about time I get to try my Olloclip Macro Pro Lens Set for my iPhone 8 Plus for the first time. It is a rather pricey macro lens set but having tested cheap one star in the past, you really get what you paid for. The Olloclip lenses seems to be of much greater quality and I’m happy with the result so far. The pictures could have been sharper if there was no wind and if I used a tripod rather than hand holding the camera and flower for stability...
For this series of macro shots, I’ve felt that a square shot would give more impact to the photographs.
I also thought that colors don’t add anything to these photos as they naturally almost look like monochrome anyway. So all photos received in a contrasty black and white treatment in SnapSeed app on my iPhone.
The photos were taken with the default camera app which I often found does a good job. I recently bought the ProCam 5 app but have not used it much yet.
Macro photography can reveal a whole new world, you see things from another perspective, look at the details without the clutter. But macro photography is not easy, at this scale, the depth of field is so tiny that it can take ages to get what you want in focus (sharp) and maintain it in focus. I’d like to investigate if focus stacking techniques can be applied to iPhone photography.
