Ruleset strategy / analysis: Little League

Ruleset strategy twitter.png

Introduction

The week battle mage secret is Little League. Nothing really special you might only use units with less than 4 mana cost.

Ruleset

Only units and summoners with a mana cost of 4 or less may be used.

Official ruleset information from splinterlands: List-of-In-Game-Rulesets

Abilities Synergies / Strategies

Life Leech/Scavenger - most of the units will have low health any extra health gained is important.
Noticed when writing this post many/most of the life leech units are low mana cost untis.

The next two I would not place often depending a bit on how many mana we could use. depending if i can fill the other spot with units that do damage.

Most played:

Best performing with minimal 15 battles played:

Avoid

In general select units with as much health as possible , avoid low health monster unless it got martyr.
recharge - I would avoid recharge monsters because these battle already going fast it takes an extra round before it can attack therefor i will not often/never select units like:

Example battle

Strategy

image.png

Medium mana battle for little league this is almost the maximum 1 summoner and 7 units = 28 mana maximum. Higher change on magic units so I will chose some magic reflect

Rulesets

Keep Your Distance:
No melee unit may be selected, so only range and magic monsters will be in this battle

Little League:
This week rule set only unit with 4 or less may be selected.

Holy Protection:
First attack that does damage is absobed.

The Lineup

Summoner

CardReason
There is a higher chance there will be ranged monster so debuff range attack by 1 and some magic reflect

Monsters Lineup

#1#2#3#4#5#6

Pelacor Conjurer (lvl 8)
This unit counters any magic attackers. It has a high health so it will take some hit to be killed.

Time Mage (lvl 6)
Slow my opponent so I may strike first

Venari Marksrat (lvl 1)
When this unit gets in the front it will be killed to only boost Dax Paragon.

Dax Paragon (lvl 5)
Important unit in this strategy because this will amplify the magic reflect of the Pelacor Conjurer

Venari Crystalsmith (lvl 6)
I want my Pelacor Conjurer to life as long as possible so this healer should heal it a bit every round.

Naga Assassin (lvl 6)
High speed unit normally very useful with sneak melee units this will not be the case not it is just in for the 2 extra damage.

Rounds

Start :

image.png
Lets dive into an example battle.
My opponent has done what I expected chose some magic units. This make the Pelacor Conjurer crucial.
I hope my Venari Marksrat misses Riftwing so it gets backfire and boost my Dax Paragon and Time Mage.
My opponent has chosen an setup I also very often chose with but then i often chose 2 life leach units

Round 1:

image.png
Venari Marksrat missed only forgot about the Holy Protection. Now the Riftwing will be dead before Venari Marksrat.

Round 2:

image.png
My Pelacor Conjurer is killed already, that was not expected. At this point it is not lookin good for my team. Need to kill the life leech unit quickly before those gain to much health.

Round 3:

image.png
This is looking better. Battle shifted quickly in this round. Next step is getting his ranged units in the front so they cannot attack anymore.

Round 4:

image.png
Here you can see what speed does. Because is have higher speed i may attack first therefor I killed his Revealer before it can attack.
Now his range unit is in the front and it cannot attack. Also my Dax Paragon is boosted and does 2 damage now. At this point it is game over for my opponent.
Speed is still meta in this game, even with little league

Round 5:

image.png
again because of my speed my opponent could not land and attacks in this round. One more round to go.

Round 6:

Game over.

Conclusion

Anticipate on what you think your opponent will play, can you counter that or do you chose you own team independent of what your opponent will do is often an mind set.
Love to see that speed is so important to strike first especially in little league because the units often already have low health because of the low mana cost units.
