The Entrance Beach is one our favourite place for a family day out. There are a lot of things to do: the beach, the mouth to the lake, the lake, lots of food places, you can swim, you can fish, everything is kids friendly. Today we had some friends coming from Cabramatta and headed to the picnic area fire for a lunch. It was raining now and then but not enough to bother us. After lunch, we headed to the beach so the kids can play on the sand and have a swim. It’s Autumn here in Oz but the water is still good for a dip.
As we got there, we were greeted by a lovely rainbow:
I took out my Olloclip Macro Pro Lens set and started t find something to shoot. I looked around me, trying to find some nice flower, an insect, a leaf... nothing interesting. I then headed towards the water and found a white something on the rocks between the weeds:
I wasn’t really satisfied. So looked around again. The clouds are nice, I though the myself (photo at the top). We are so lucky to live on the Central Coast so close to nature. If my family have stayed in the UK we won’t be able to do all these activities or we would need to travel far.
I went back to the family and friends who were having fun on the sand. That’s where I noticed this grass with a hairy head.
The sun was low and was casting a rim light in the grass head. A little stream of water was flowing nearby, I need to find the right angle.
This bottom structure of the lake is changing frequently depending on the strength of the currents and the amount of rain that fills up the lake. Recently, the sand has been sucked in and was filling the centre of the lake. The council regularly does some maintenance here, the pipe you see in the photos above is used to pump the sand from one place to another.
I think I have found an interesting angle here. The sun was backlighting the grass and the reflection on the water can make an interesting bokeh effect when I will be using the macro lens.
So I installed my Olloclip 7x Macro Lens onto the iPhone 8 Plus and tried various angles. These are my two keepers:
My wife went swimming for a bit, the current is strong and she got tired quickly but it was very refreshing.
We are now walking towards the shops and kids playground. As we walk along the edge of the channel, I noticed some fish swimming, the water is so clear, it’s beautiful.
I’m going to go back with the others now.
