Introduction

This week battle mage secret: Wands out.
Actually i was expecting and prepared an post about the Standard ruleset.

I like the magic play style therefore i also like this Wands out ruleset. Also in the last year splinterlands tried to reduce the overpowered magic plays in my opinion for example to introduce Immortalis .

Ruleset

Only magic unit may be selected

Official ruleset information from splinterlands: List-of-In-Game-Rulesets

Abilities Synergies / Strategies

Pahse - to have an higher change to dodge the attacks
Void - to get less damage from magic units
Void armor - Your opponennt first have to attack you armor
Magic reflect - to return some damage back when attacked. I like to combine this with Amplify

All these above have an highly positive effect because you know that you opponent will also attack with magic.

My best performing summoners:

My best performing units:

Avoid

Thorns/Return fire - no melee and or ranged attack units will appear in these battle therefor no use to select units with this abilities.

Example battle

Strategy

This week 35 mana cap battle with protect that is nice with most of the armor is useless because only magic units can be selected. Nice it earth is not possible to select. This is nice because I'm forced to deviate from my normal magic lineup 🤣

Rulesets

Wands Out:
Rule set of the week. Only magic unit may be selected

Armored Up:
All units will gain 2 extra armor. With most magic play this is not that beneficial unless you are combining it

Rise of the Commons:
Only common and rare units may be selected. in combination with magic only this is pretty restrictive
and also rules out the life play with Grandmaster Rathe

The Lineup

Summoner

CardReason
This time we go for an counter play. Normally i like more the buff then debuff. in this case i'm sure it will help because of the only magic units.

Monsters Lineup

#1#2#3#4#5#6

Elven Mystic (lvl 1)
This is only an level 1 so this will hurt my earnings if i win big time. Still a win is more important then the earning else you have 0 earning 🤣
For 4 mana 3 health is ok.

Cabalist (lvl 6)
In the second position for the health so there is more time that the life leech units can collect the extra health. The ability that has are useless

Venari Bonesmith (lvl 6)
Life leech unit 1 here. I like the life leech because it gain health along the way. The poison will also be important for this battle.

Life Sapper (lvl 6)
Second life leech unit. hop it can collect many health points

Venari Spellsmith (lvl 6)
Decent low level mana unit. The dispel is sometime helpful

Scavo Technomancer (lvl 6)
Important unit withe the blast damage it will do some extra damage to my opponents units.

Rounds

Start :

Lets analyze the battle lineup:
Pretty similar battle setup, my opponent has some nice gold card but is got some higher level units.
So it comes down to unit placing and level.
And reminder nice to have gold card but if you lose there are no extra rewars.

Round 1:

image.png
1-1 both have killed one unit. No conclusions can be drawn after the first round yet.

Round 2:

image.png
My opponent has taken the lead. At this point i think i going to lose this battle.

Round 3:

image.png
I have catchup a bit. now with my higher level units is may strike first so i assume at this point this battle will be mine.

Round 4:

image.png
Really? I forgot about his blast that killed two of my units. In the next round it will be determined.
I may strike first or his Venari Spellsmith that only does 1 damage so it will be a vistory.

Round 5:

Last round went as expected. Vicotry.

Conclusion

With the Wands Out ruleset depending on the available splinters and other ruleset there still a lot of possibilities. Also this battle demonstrates to focus on leveling up your cards so the change of winning with an similar line up is higher. So i prefer leveled up units above gold units.
